14. PROBLEM VOCABULARY AND PREPOSITIONS Commonly misused words : Terdapat banyak kata yang sering digunakan dengan tidak tepat, diantaranya adalah : a. Et cetera Singkatan “etc” sering diucapkan menjadi “ex cetera”, padahal pengucapan kata “etc” adalah “et cetera”. Kata tersebut berasal dari bahasa Latin yang berarti “and the rest”. b. You and me & You and I Terdapat cara untuk membedakan penggunakan “you and me” dan “you and I” pada sebuah kalimat. Cara yang pertama : Pada sebuah kalimat, jika ingin menyebutkan orang lain dan diri kita sendiri,  letakkan orang lain tersebut lebih awal. Contoh : -I requested the band to play this song for you and me. -My friends and I went to the beach last week. Cara yang kedua : Baca kalimatnya tanpa membaca orang lainnya dan lihat apakah terdengar benar atau tidak. Contoh (dari contoh yang diatas) : -I requested the band to play this song your me. (terdengar benar) -I went to the beach last week. (terdengar bena

9. CONNECTORS Connector atau conjunction memiliki tiga jenis, yaitu Coordinating, Subordinating dan Correlating Connector.   Coordinating connector : Coordinating connector digunakan untuk menyambungkan dua klausa (clause) atau dua frasa (phrase) yang memiliki nilai yang setara. Contoh : for, and, nor, but, or, so. -I always drink coffee or tea every morning. -I bought a computer so I could do my school work better.   Subordinating connector : Subordinating connector digunakan untuk menyambungkan dua klausa dalam sebuah kalimat, dimana satu klausa adalah subordinate untuk klausa lainnya. Subordinate clause menjelaskan maksud dari main clause. Contoh : because, since, although, after, before -I’m going to California because I’ve got  a scholarsip at UCLA. -Since I bought this guitar, I’ve learned so many new songs this month.   Correlating connector : Correlating connector digunakan untuk mengkorelasikan klausa. Contoh : both....and, not only.....but also, either......or, nei

5 . Verb as Complement SUBJECT : A.    The subject is the agent of the sentence in the active voice, subject is the person or thing that does the action of the sentence and subject normally precedes the verb. B.    The subject may be a noun phrase. A noun phrase is a group of words ending with a noun. (it can't begin with a preposition). ffff  Subjek adalah bagian dari kalimat dalam kalimat aktif, orang atau benda yang melakukan tindakan, dan subjek biasanya mendahului kata kerja. -          VERB : A.    The verb follows the subject, it generally shows the action of the sentence. B.    The verb maybe a verb phrase. A verb phrase consists of one or more auxiliaries and one main verb. The auxiliaries always precede the main verb. Predikat ialah mengikuti subjek, pada umumnya menunjukkan suatu tindakan. -          COMPLEMENT : A complement completes the verb. It is similar to the subject because it's usually a      noun or noun phrase,
